Day 3 of the WFDF 2016 World Junior Ultimate Championships (WJUC) saw the end of the pool play. 16 teams in the men’s division and 12 in the women’s have advanced to the next round remaining on the path to the medal rounds.
One of these 16 teams still aiming for gold are the hosts Poland who lost to a strong Japanese men’s team by the score of 15-13. “We knew that in our opponent we faced a fast, well drilled and very technically skilled team, but our height advantage and heart were our secret weapon” said Polish MVP Bwire Ekonjo, who scored 6 of the Polish points. The Polish women’s had a narrow loss to Great Britain losing in “universe point” 13-12, putting them out of the running for medals.
The World World Games city Wroclaw is showing an increased interest in the sport of Ultimate with local and national film crews, filming games and interviewing players on site today.
